Dayton venture fund invests in high-tech marketing company

A mobile marketing company is benefiting from seed funding from Accelerant.
TextPride Inc., a company that develops emoticons, brand logos and other symbols for use in mobile messaging, is receiving funding from the Dayton Region Signature Fund, a $13.5 million seed stage venture fund started in 2007. Accelerant, an initiative of the Dayton Development Coalition, didn’t disclose the amount of the investment, only that it is the 34th company it is investing in.
“It’s a touch-point for brand recognition,” said Michael Klein, an analyst for Accelerant. “It’s a way to extend the market of branding into the text world.”
