Ohio State, University of Michigan team with Venture Therapeutics to develop patch to halt oral cancer

Venture Therapeutics Inc., a 2-year-old drug commercialization startup, will oversee clinical trials and seek to bring to market a patch to treat precancerous mouth lesions that was jointly invented by researchers at Ohio State University and the University of Michigan.

The two schools and Venture Therapeutics created a spinoff, Sirona Therapeutics Inc., to license the intellectual property for the patch, which directly delivers drugs aimed at stopping such lesions from developing into disfiguring and potentially fatal oral cancer.
