FDA grants orphan designation to Airway Therapeutics

U.S. regulators have granted orphan designation to Airway Therapeutics, the local startup working to help extremely premature babies avoid developing a serious condition called bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).

The designation is another boost for the startup that spun out of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and that became operational in 2011. Cincinnati Children’s, along with CincyTech, is an investor.
