Kent State University said three research groups at the school were awarded a total of about $1.2 million by the National Science Foundation.
The projects “will advance basic knowledge of liquid crystals and further their development in new materials and technologies, such as advanced displays, detection of chemical warfare agents and biomedical sensors,” according to a Kent State news release.
