When Dr. George Picha was a child, he’d often have a strange dream about waking up, looking out the window and seeing a factory.
“It was really bizarre,” said Picha, a plastic surgeon and biomedical engineer by training, “but now we have that factory.”
That factory he speaks of is a hulking 90,000-square-foot facility in Brecksville, Ohio, which since late 2014 has housed Applied Medical Technology, a medical device maker Picha founded in the mid-1980s. The company, which uses the trade name AMT, built and moved into the facility only about five years after constructing its former home, a 31,000-square-foot headquarters up the street from its current digs on Katherine Boulevard.
The reason? Growth, and a lot of it.
