BioMotiv spins off new company that aims to thwart cell deaths

BioMotiv, a Shaker Heights firm that aims to commercialize all sorts of drugs, in conjunction with two West Coast universities has spun out a new company that plans to develop new therapeutics that can prevent cell deaths — a medical scenario often associated with diseases such as diabetes and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.
The new company, OptiKira, is based on intellectual property licensed from the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Washington.
