Wendy’s to open tech lab near OSU to develop new mobile apps

With Wendy’s Co. dabbling in more and more “toys,” the restaurant company realized it needed a better playroom.
The Dublin based chain Tuesday said it is opening a “tech lab” near Ohio State University this year where it will develop and test new applications and technology for its consumers and restaurants.
Brandon Rhoten, vice president of digital and social media, said it’ll be Wendy’s “skunk works” and will be staffed with employees who are developers. The location, size of and employment at the facility were not disclosed, but executives at Tuesday’s annual stock analyst meeting shared some of what will be going on inside.
