Startups see direct flights to Silicon Valley and Boston easing access to investors and talent

Direct flights to the East and West coasts are expected to open up access to potential investors, board members and employees for Central Ohio technology startups.

Southwest Airlines announced Thursday that it would add nonstop flights in August to Boston Logan International Airport and California’s Oakland International Airport, which is across the bay from San Francisco and about a 45-minute drive from Silicon Valley hotspots Cupertino and Menlo Park.

“A VC sitting in the Valley, they’re going to see that immediately. Columbus is a cool city and now I can go check on my company,” TechColumbus CEO Tom Walker told me.
