VC deal gives Dan Gilbert inroads into Columbus, Ohio

The team of Columbus-based NCT Ventures and Dan Gilbert’s Detroit Venture Partners will strengthen the capital scene for startups in both cities, NCT Managing Director Rich Langdale says.

The two funds last week joined MDC Dream Ventures and Foundry Group Angels in a $4.2 million round for ad-tech startup Are You A Human Inc. – the first company from Detroit in NCT’s portfolio. I caught up with a Langdale on Tuesday while he was on the road back to Columbus from Detroit to talk about the fund’s northern strategy.
