Ohio has become the first state with 1 gigabit Internet accessible statewide.
Agile Network Builders LLC has completed its more than two-year project installing equipment on existing radio towers to use microwave frequencies instead of fiber to deliver broadband through the air, with signals that can travel 8 miles and penetrate walls. (Some parts of its network do use fiber.)
“Across the state of Ohio we have the ability to deliver a gigabit of (transmission) anywhere,” said Kyle Quillen, chief technical officer and one of three co-founders, in an exclusive interview with Columbus Business First.
