Surgical Theater has raised $9 million from a Chinese venture capital firm and electronics giant HTC Corp. — a deal that could help the Mayfield Village company become a player in the virtual reality industry.
Surgical Theater’s software already allows neurosurgeons to create 3D images of their patients’ brains and study those models on a screen.
However, the company has been working to develop versions of the software that work on virtual reality headsets that have yet to be released.
