Nationwide Children’s Hospital gave a huge marketing boost to its software spinoff in the emerging field of gene sleuthing by winning a contest to help find what’s causing as-yet-undiagnosed genetic conditions in five patients.
Boston Children’s Hospital named the team from the Columbus hospital the $25,000 winner of its second Clarity challenge for best ways to analyze vast amounts of data from sequencing a patient’s entire genome– the 3 billion DNA base pairs that are strung through each human’s chromosomes.
