ProMedica Chief Executive Officer Randy Oostra painted a picture of a health-care company that is growing rapidly and leading the way in innovations, job creation, and economic development in a speech before the Rotary Club of Toledo Monday.
“One of our physicians, Dr. John Pigott, created a company called VentureMed that is now selling vascular catheters in Europe,” Mr. Oostra said to cite an example of ProMedica’s innovation.
The FLEX Scoring catheters are being produced here and ProMedica is in active discussions with a northern California company to take over production of the device used by patients with peripheral artery disease.
“As they have come to Toledo, they’ve figured out the airport is closer and that they can live cheaper in Toledo than they can in Silicon Valley,” so they are considering relocating to Toledo, he said.
