Thanks to a grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation, the Akron Global Business Accelerator soon will have a new multipurpose space that will include a reception area, multiple collaboration areas and a cafe, according Anthony Margida, CEO of the accelerator.
The $242,000 grant to the Akron Development Corp. will cover the total cost of construction, which should be complete by fall, Margida said. The area will be created by reconfiguring existing space on the first level and utilizing a garage bay. While plans are still in progress, the café is expected to cover about 2,800 square feet, he said. The city-owned accelerator building is housed in the former B.F. Goodrich tire plant on Main Street downtown.
