Teens develop election app — and learn to hack

Teenagers from five local high schools are working together to build an app about the upcoming election — and gaining some coding skills in the process.

Students participating in the CLETeenHack program will end up receiving about 18 hours of software development training during the school day while they work on the app. And then they put in extra hours at home, according to Mel McGee, CEO of We Can Code IT. The Cleveland-based software development bootcamp is leading the technical training, with help from local volunteers.
