A southeast Ohio manufacturer of super-cooled freezers with half the carbon footprint of competing products has raised $5.5 million in the second joint investment by the university-owned Ohio Innovation Fund and a venture capital firm that says it has found five deals in the state since last fall.
Global Cooling Inc. will use proceeds of the debt and equity deal to expand manufacturing capacity and add to its national sales force. Most of its more than 90 employees are in Athens, where it has a factory.
