Record-breaking event helps illustrate Akron’s footing in the polymer science world

If a recent event in Akron is any indication, the city’s place as a leading international center for polymer science is secure.

The 12th National Graduate Research Polymer Conference – an event held at a different university every two years – drew record attendance June 19-22 at the University of Akron.

“If we’d gotten 400 people, it would have been the largest conference we’ve had,” said Eric Amis, dean of UA’s College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, taking a break at the event after the speaker sessions. “We had around 550.”
