Youngstown-based America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, announced that the University of Dayton Research Institute is receiving a Directed Project Opportunity with total funding of more than $10 million, according to a news release.
The project will focus on how to use new technology to keep Air Force platforms effective, instead of relying on suppliers, said Scott Deutsch, manager of communications and special programs for the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, the group that manages America Makes. Officially, the project is looking at “Maturation of Advanced Manufacturing for Low-cost Sustainment,” the release stated.
