Akron hackathon will look at making city data more accessible

Akron, like any city, has its challenges, but leaders are hoping to begin to find answers to some of them in just a 12-hour period.

The city and Launch League will host Hack N Akron from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Wastebits, 365 Water St., according to a Thursday, Aug. 4, news release. During the hackathon, participants will hear from local leaders about challenges they face, and by the end of the day, attendees must craft solutions. The goal of is to create a more transparent, technologically advanced city, the release said.

According to the hackathon’s registration site, the city is asking participants to look at two challenges: neighborhood branding and the creation of an open data application programming interface (API) for the city.
