State awards millions to Cincy startup groups

CincyTech and other local organizations in the city’s thriving startup ecosystem will share nearly $14 million from the state of Ohio.

The grant, funded in part by taxpayer-backed bonds, will support the operating needs and entrepreneurial services from the Brandery, CincyTech, Cintrifuse, HCDC (formerly the Hamilton County Development Co.) and the University of Cincinnati tech accelerator. The money is expected to provide support for the organizations for three years.

Last week, Ohio Third Frontier announced that organizations around the state would receive $67.4 million of grants to support entrepreneurs and early stage technology companies.
