Tilr works to connect job seekers, employers

Summer Crenshaw knows all-too-well the struggles veterans face in employment.

Crenshaw is a military spouse who serves as caregiver to husband, John, a medically retired veteran. John served as a U.S. Army combat engineer who worked to detonate improvised explosive devices in Iraq.

“When he came back, he faced all new challenges,” she said. “He could not find a job. His last two years in the service, how do you translate military into civilian (experience).”

Crenshaw’s personal experience helps guide her as chief operating officer and co-founder of tilr, a Downtown Cincinnati-based startup that has developed an alternative approach to recruitment.
