You might recall Crain’s Akron’s coverage of the I-Corps program back in September. But for those who are still unfamiliar, the National Science Foundation program is designed to help teams of scientists and students extend their focus beyond the classroom and identify opportunities for the commercialization of new research.
The University of Akron’s I-Corps site also includes teams from Kent State University, Cleveland State University, Youngstown State University and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center. The program pairs students, some budding entrepreneurs, and faculty members with local business mentors to help them explore commercialization options.
