It’s one of Cincinnati’s fastest-growing companies, but Everything but the House might not exist had co-founder Jacquie Denny had a more pleasant experience at an auction in the 1970s.

It was an estate sale for her great-aunt, and a few hundred people gathered in her aunt’s East Walnut Hills front yard listening to an auctioneer listlessly sell off hundreds of treasured possessions for pennies on the dollar. Denny, who attended the auction, knew the stuff was worth much more.
