Business Insider identifies Akron among world’s top locations where smart people live

AKRON, Ohio – While Vogue recently recognized Akron for its “bucolic small-town charm,” Business Insider just pointed to the city as a place where lots of smart people live.

The Business Insider Australia article, “13 ‘brain belts’ where the world’s smartest people reside,” draws from a 2016 book by Antoine van Agtmael and Fred Bakker called “The Smartest Places on Earth, Why Rustbelts Are the Emerging Hotspots of Global Innovation.”

Agtmael and Bakker point to a number of places smart people live, with most being in North America and Europe, as identified through research by global financial group Macquarie Bank.
