Cincinnati tech company bringing Wi-Fi anywhere service to town

A Cincinnati tech company is building out a network in the Queen City that it promises will deliver Wi-Fi service to users no matter where they go.

Viaggi, which has partnered with Uber to offer Wi-Fi in some of its vehicles in San Diego, is building out what it’s calling its “Everywhere Network” in Cincinnati. CEO Nathan Ellis said it offers fiberoptic internet speeds through the air to businesses, homes, vehicles or wherever a consumer is.

“Once we scale the whole thing out, consumers will connect one time and as they roam the city, they’ll never have to disconnect from that secure Wi-Fi,” he said.

Viaggi is partnering with some of the largest companies in the country who own mobile phone tower infrastructure (he didn’t name which) and placing microwave antennas on those towers. When consumers or businesses sign up for Viaggi service, the company places a 12-inch-by-12-inch antenna on their home or building that will receive the signal broadcast by Viaggi.
