On your mark, get set, Startup Weekend gets going on Friday

Registration is now open for the eighth Startup Weekend Athens, which teaches participants how to take any business idea from concept to creation over one weekend.

The event, open to the general public, will be held this Friday through Sunday, Oct. 13-15, at the Ohio University Innovation Center.

Participants can learn more about startup businesses and entrepreneurship, network with others from the region, and gain new skills, according to a news release. This event draws together community and students from a wide range of backgrounds and interests, including information technology, design, sales, marketing, finance, business and entrepreneurship, the release said.
