DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – It starts with an idea, then builds into a business. what happens in-between takes time and money.
Just ask Scott Koorndyk, who oversees dozens of think-tanks right here in Dayton.
“I think entrepreneurship, the idea of starting and running a business, is something much more prevalent in today’s society maybe than it was 10 years ago,” said Koorndyk, who is President at The Entrepreneur Center.
Dozens of start-up companies are desperate to compete locally, and with the increase in innovation, the city saw a something missing.
“I think we truly recognized the need, maybe 12 months ago,” said Veronica Morris, Senior Economic Specialist with the Department of Economic Development.
So, they brainstormed, and introduced a competition called ‘Accelerate Dayton.’
