Cincinnati startup, UpTech grad, nabs investment from the Vatican

A graduate of the Northern Kentucky startup incubator UpTech is the recipient of funding from an unusual source: the Vatican.

Papr is a tech startup originally born in India that relocated to the Cincinnati region to participate in the UpTech accelerator’s fifth class. The startup helps companies eliminate paper waste by automating the signature process for internal documents, bypassing the need to print out and sign multiple copies of documents to be sent around the office and signed by others.

Papr was founded by Josh Israel and Devin Serago, who had moved to India from Los Angeles to develop an online dating startup aimed at helping groups of guys and girls meet up to make meeting new people easier and safer. That startup was sold, and Israel and Serago looked at what to do next.
