EXCLUSIVE: Two Cincinnati venture capital firm founders to get lifetime achievement award

When Glen Mayfield and Ted Robinson raised their first venture capital fund in 1994, there wasn’t much of a startup community in Cincinnati.

“It did feel like we were somewhat of pioneers,” Mayfield told me on.

He and Robinson built their venture capital business into what’s now River Cities Capital Funds, a downtown Cincinnati firm that has raised more than $750 million in six funds. They’ve been joined by a boatload of other firms providing capital and other forms of support to the burgeoning local startup world.

Mayfield’s and Robinson’s roles were so vital to the growth of the Cincinnati startup community and their contributions so closely tied together that the Association for Corporate Growth – Cincinnati has named them winners of the group’s annual Lifetime Achievement Award. They’ll be honored at the Deal Maker Awards event May 16 at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati, downtown.
