Akron-based RVshare is bulking up its board of directors with some well-known talent.
The fast-growing peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, which also boasts a sizable presence in Austin, Texas, has added to its board HomeAway co-founders — Brian Sharples and Carl Shepherd — and the former chief officer of Southwest Airlines, Kevin Krone.
RVshare hired former HomeAway chief revenue officer Jon Gray as its CEO and chairman in January. HomeAway is an online vacation rental marketplace that now boasts 2 million homes in more than 190 countries. Gray held various roles during his 12-year tenure with the vacation rental giant, which was sold in 2015 to Expedia for $3.9 billion.
Meanwhile, in February, RVshare announced it had secured a $50 million investment from Austin, Texas-based Tritium Partners.
