Athens maker of medical deep freezers opens design and sales office in Smith Bros. building

A venture-backed maker of energy-efficient deep freezers for hospitals and biomedical research has opened a Columbus sales, marketing and design office to speed its growth with new customers and eventually new product lines.

Stirling Ultracold first planned the space in the Smith Brothers Hardware building north of downtown as a sales office, conveniently close to John Glenn Columbus International Airport. Now the Athens-based company is adding marketing and design. Since June it has located six employees here with job openings posted.
