Ryan Miller saw airbag injuries as more than just a problem. He saw them as a problem to be solved.
His solution: an airbag shaped like an hourglass when it inflates, minimizing the bag’s contact with the passenger’s head.
The airbag is among 21 patents that the Honda engineer has to his name at Honda R&D Americas in Raymond in Union County. Most of his patents have to do with airbags and crash-test safety, and some have been applied to every Honda and Acura vehicle built since 2006.
