Founder Story: Obi Robot

via meetobi.com

For those lacking upper body extremity control, Obi Robot offers an innovative and life-changing solution. Originally developed by Jon Dekar in his dorm room, Obi has evolved into a robotic arm that mimics human movement, allowing for independent feeding. The magnetized spoon and four separate bowls can be controlled by the blink of an eye or even the wrinkle of a forehead. Focused on providing autonomy, Obi has received support from The Entrepreneur’s Center, an Ohio Third Frontier partner in Dayton, and has earned two prestigious international awards — an R&D 100 award in 2016 and a gold Medical Design Excellence Award in 2018.
