A Columbus-based financial startup is partnering with the soon-to-open Gravity apartment development in Franklinton to offer a novel program designed to create renter loyalty and ultimately help turn renters into owners.

Rhove, founded by 30-year-old Columbus entrepreneur Calvin Cooper, is designed to appeal to millennials looking at spending potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in rent in their lives. With home prices and rents rising in recent years — the monthly rent for a studio apartment at Gravity starts at $1,250 — many millennials despair at the amount they’re shelling out without being able to build equity or save for a down payment on a home.
