An intern turned down a full-time job offer from Silicon Valley e-lender Upstart Network Inc. because he didn’t want to move to the San Francisco Bay area.
Then Upstart opened an R&D center in Columbus.
“He took that offer in a second,” CEO Dave Girouard said. “We feel very positive Columbus is a place we can recruit around the country and say, ‘Look, if you’d really want to build a career in Silicon Valley, we have that – and if you’d rather live in a city like Columbus, we have that too.’ ”
