A Dayton-area airport will become the test site for “groundbreaking” aviation technology that could have a major impact on the U.S. military.
The Federal Aviation Administration has approved the use of Ohio’s unmanned aircraft systems — developed in collaboration with the state’s UAS Center and the Air Force Research Laboratory — for test flights beyond visual line-of-sight in a limited parcel of airspace. The FAA’s approval will allow this testing to be conducted at Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport in Springfield.
