Checkpoint Surgical, a Cleveland medical device company, has received breakthrough device designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the Checkpoint brief electrostimulation therapy (BEST) system, which is designed to provide electrical stimulation of peripheral nerves to promote nerve regeneration.
The Checkpoint BEST system, which aims to accelerate and improve patient recovery, serves as an adjunct to surgical intervention following nerve injury, according to a news release.
