‘I’m not moving to Columbus, Ohio. Zero chance.’ Here’s how fast-growing unicorn Root changed a Facebook exec’s mind
After 10 years with Facebook Inc., Annette Reavis’ plan was to give one year’s notice and retire – maybe not to live on a beach, but work for a school or find another spot where an avowed “people person” is needed.
One day last year the HR executive caught up with a “dear, dear friend” over breakfast, who happened also to be an investor in Root Inc.
“He said, ‘Annette, I have this company; it’s in Columbus, Ohio.’ And I said, ‘I’m not moving to Columbus, Ohio. Zero chance,’” Reavis said. “And he said, ‘Just talk to them.’
