MARION, Ohio — A worldwide health pandemic, an economic recession and an immigration crisis – they all greeted President Warren G. Harding when he arrived at the White House in early 1921.
Harding, the last Ohioan to occupy the Oval Office, was elected 100 years ago last fall. His hometown of Marion, about two hours from Cleveland, planned a major centennial celebration in 2020, cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.
