More drones will fly in the sky around the Miami Valley, as AES Ohio is trying new technology to bring their customers reliable energy.
As part of its efforts to bolster electric service, AES Ohio (formerly known as Dayton Power & Light) will use drone technology. On Monday, AES officials held a demonstration of how drones can bolster its enterprise utilities management and respond more quickly to power disruptions.
The new technology stems from a partnership forged with Sinclair Community College and senseFly on a drone program that will use aerial imagery to map 1,000 miles of power transmission lines.
